Applying Make Up Per Face Shape

Make up For The Forty Plus

This is a general guide which can be used by women who are in their 40's or prime of their age, it is meant to accentuate their beauty.

  1. About foundation: Foundation should be appropriate to skin type and one that matches your skin tone. Water based foundations are best for matured skin and depending on the coverage, you can go in for cream or liquid foundation. Tinted foundations are great for matured skin as they don't sink into lines and wrinkles and provide a light sheer coverage. Use foundation with a sponge and blend it into the jaw line so that there are no patches. Matured skin is often dry and patchy, so foundation has to be applied very precisely.
  2. About concealer: Use a concealer that is slightly lighter than your foundation as it hides the dark circles, and peach in tone. Use a concealer for covering blemishes, marks, acne, freckles and red spots. Take special care while applying concealer under the eye cause with age, the under eye skin gets much more sensitive and thin. Apply a layer of concealer and cover with translucent powder.
  3. About powder: After the application of foundation and concealer, apply translucent powder over the entire face with a big powder brush. This makes the skin look natural without making it look over-powdered.
  4. Eye shadow: Use a smooth eye primer. Using primer will allow the eye shadow to last longer and without any creases. As matured skin is wrinkled at places, primer makes it smooth. Light colours bring things into focus and darker colours recede and add depth and shading. If you have drooping eyes, shade the area right above the crease of the eyelid where it is drooping. Do not use shimmers cause it will accentuate any lines that you have.
  5. About eyeliner: Use the eyeliner as close to the lash line from the inside of the eye and ending the line with a slight lift of the shadow. This is help to give the eyes a lift. The outer line to the lower lashes should be thin but to give the eyes a bigger look, line the lower lashes a bit away from the eyes.
  6. About mascara: Lash things over a matter of time. Apply black powder eye shadow into the roots of the lashes and then apply mascara. If you want thicker eye lashes, then apply mascara primer.
  7. About eyebrows: Eyebrows thin and lose their shape in time. To make eyebrows thicker, use a powder shadow which gives it a natural look. Apply the powder colour using a wedge brush, and work in the direction of the hair growth.
  8. About blush: For matured skin, cream blush works well, but not forgetting to set the foundation with powder. Once you use powder, the blush lasts longer. You can cover the blush with powder blush instead of plain powder. Blend the colour upwards towards the temple, it will give your face an overall lift.
  9. About lipstick: To keep your lipstick from running beyond the lines, use a natural colour lip liner first. Then set it with translucent powder. Then go ahead and apply lipstick with a lip brush making sure you don't go beyond the edges of the lip liner. To make the lips appear fuller, apply shimmer lip gloss in the middle of the lips.
