While planning out a cardiovascular exercise program, the most common mistake that people make is whether they are doing is aerobic or anaerobic. When you are doing aerobic exercises, these are exercises that work with oxygen. When you exercise with anaerobic, then that exercise works without oxygen. In aerobics, as you breathe in oxygen, fat is burnt. Activities like walking are fat burning. Your body’s need for energy becomes more important than your rate of oxygen intake, and then your body begins to burn anaerobic calories. The starch that is stored in your muscles known as glycogen is burnt by anaerobic calories. Anaerobic calories are used in strenuous exercises for short periods of time as it doesn’t need oxygen. While performing an anaerobic activity, a burning sensation takes places in the muscle which is an accumulation of lactic acid. This means you are burning glycogen, not fat. So, in order to loose fat to the maximum, you need to concentrate on aerobic activities rather than anaerobic activities.

Since aerobic activity uses large muscle groups, this exercise can be done for a long period of time and is rhythmic in nature. It delivers oxygen to every part of the body and trains the cardiovascular system, heart and lungs. Aerobic activity is long in duration and low in intensity. A person can do aerobics for a long stretch of time, work more vigorously and achieve a quick recovery at the end of the aerobic session. There are various aerobic activities which include brisk walking, treadmills, ski machines, biking, swimming, aerobic classes, jogging and cross-country skiing. In anaerobic activities there are weight lifting, sprinting, dumbbells, softball, soccer and football.

The mental stability of a person can improve by different types of aerobic exercise if practice regularly. Regular practice of it helps to prevent the depression level. Performing different types of aerobic exercise have different impacts on our mind and body. You can get flexibility by doing exercises that are those that help in stretching and improving the frequency range of motion of muscles and joints.
