Homemade Face Masks For Different Skin Types:

2.Cleansing Masks:

Cleansing Facemasks are a must for all skin types. These masks are ideally applied after steaming so that the excess sebum and dead skin, dirt particles and clogged pores can be opened up and cleaned thoroughly and the skin looks clean, soft and youthful. These masks contain fruits or fruit extracts and other natural ingredients – cucumber curds, lemon juice, Brewer’s Yeast.
— For Dry Skin Types:
A.Oatmeal Egg And Honey Mask: Mix 1 tbsp oatmeal with enough milk to make a paste. Beat 1 egg yolk and blend it with the oatmeal paste and add a tsp of honey. Leave it on the skin for fifteen minutes. Rinse off with tepid water. The egg yolk softens the skin and oatmeal helps to cleanse and nourish the skin. Alternatively instead of egg yolk you may use a teaspoon of dissolved gelatin to the oatmeal paste.
B.Yoghurt Egg Mask: Beat white of an egg until stiff. Add in 4-5 tbsp yogurt and 1 tsp honey and mix well. Apply all over face and neck. Wipe clean using a muslin cloth dipped in hot water, followed by the muslin cloth saturated in cold water.
C.Baking Soda Mask: Mix 5-6 tbsp of baking soda with half tsp honey and a tsp or 2 of milk or water, enough to make a paste. Add about 4-5 capsules of Vitamin E. Mix and apply on face and rinse after 15 minutes.
D.Creamy Mask: Combine 1/2 teaspoon of Brewer’s yeast, 1 tablespoon honey, 1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons sour cream, 2 egg yolks, Milk and mix well. Spread a thin film of olive oil or sesame oil over face and then apply this mask on it. Leave on for 15-20minutes. Rinse off with milk and water.
E.Oil Based Mask: Melt 5 teaspoons fresh coconut oil, 5 teaspoons olive oil, 4 teaspoons beeswax by the double boiling method. Melt the oil and wax . Warm 5 tbsp cucumber juice, 2 tbsp glycerin and a pinch of borax in a separate bowl until borax is dissolved. Add the cucumber, borax and glycerin mixture to the oil and whisk the mixture till it thickens. Excess may be stored in the fridge. Apply on face and wash off after 12-15 minutes.
F.Almond Mask: Mix 1 beaten egg yolk, 2 teaspoon cream, 1 teaspoon runny honey, 2 drops lavender or evening primrose essential oil, finely ground almonds to a soft paste, adding enough ground almonds to ensure mask stays on your face. Rinse when dry after 15-20 minutes.

— For Oily Skin:
A.Oatmeal Lemon Mask: Stir 1/4 cup oatmeal (finely powdered) into 1/2 cup yogurt, chill it. Apply to face and neck. Leave on for half an hour. Rinse off with tepid water into which 2 tsp lemon juice has been added.
B.Kaolin Mask: Combine 2 tablespoons kaolin with 2 tablespoons cucumber juice and apply over face and neck. Wash it off 10-15 minutes.
C.Juice And Yogurt Mask: Mix ½ teaspoon lemon juice, 1 ½ teaspoons orange juice, 1 teaspoon celery juice, 1 teaspoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon natural yogurt, 2 drops geranium or lavender essential oil, to a soft paste, adding enough dried skim milk powder to ensure mask stays on your face.
D.Turmeric Mask: Combine 1/4th teaspoon of turmeric powder with 1 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice to make a paste. Apply over the face wash off after ten to fifteen minutes.
E.Strawberry Mask: Rinse 4 to 5 very ripe, medium-size strawberries in lukewarm water, and dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. In a small bowl, mash the fruit with a fork. Add 2 tsp heavy cream and 1 tsp honey, mixing well. Leave on for 20 minutes.
F.Lemon And Honey Mask: Mix 2 tablespoons of pure lemon juice and 1 table spoon of honey. Rub gently all over your face and neck, and then rinse with warm water.
G.Grape Mask: Split 2-3 grapes and rub the flesh over face and neck. Rinse with cool water.

— For Normal Skin:
A.Glycerin Mask: Mix 2 tbsp cornstarch, 2 tbsp Glycerin, 1/2 cup distilled water together until smooth. Pour into a jar and place the jar inside a double-boiler pot (do not use direct heat on the jar). Bring the water in the outer pot to a boil and heat the mixture until it is clear and has thickened. (If it thickens too much, add a bit more water). Remove from heat and let cool. This is a good all-over facial cleanser and should keep for 7 to 10 days.
B.Cucumber Mask: Mix 1/2 of a peeled, pureed cucumber with 1 tbsp plain, natural yogurt and 1 tsp olive oil and apply to the face (avoid eye area). Let dry for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Use once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and refresh your skin.
C.Pumpkin Mask: Mix 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree and 2 Tbsp honey. Apply to face and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
D.Apple Mask: In a blender, process 1 cored and quartered apple. Then add 2 tbsp. honey and ½ tsp. sage. Refrigerate for 10 minutes. Pat the mixture onto the face with a light tapping motion, tapping until the honey feels tacky. Leave mask on for 30 minutes, then rinse.
E.Lettuce Mask: Dip two large lettuce leaves in olive oil and sprinkle on them a few drops of lemon juice. Place them on both sides of your face, and then cover them with a paper towel dipped in mineral water. Wipe your face with a cotton ball soaked in warm milk, then rinse with boiled warm water.
F.Peaches Mask: Cook one medium peach until soft and mash it with a fork. Then add 1 tbsp. of honey and a little oatmeal until it’s a think consistency. Apply the paste to your skin and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse well with cool water.

— For Combination Skin:
A.Banana Mask: Mix 1/2 mashed banana, 2 tbs yogurt with 1/2 grated small cucumber into a paste and apply on skin and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse.
B.Egg Mask: Apply 2 tbsp beaten egg white and ½ x 5 ml (1/2 teaspoon) lemon juice to the oily patches, rubbing it in slightly. Then mix 5 ml (1 teaspoon) gelatin with 15 ml (1 tbsp) water to make a paste and smooth into the dry areas. Leave for 30 minutes, and then rinse both away with warm water followed by cold. Blot dry.
C.Citrus Mask: Blend half grapefruit, half a lemon (both peeled and seeded), half a cored apple, 5 tablespoons chopped watercress, one to two egg whites and 30-40 seedless grapes. Rinse off with warm water. If your skin is normal to combination you can use this mask, but if your skin is on the drier side avoid using this mask.
D.Honey Almond Mask: Mix 2 tablespoons honey, 3 tablespoons finely ground almonds and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Apply on the face and rinse off with warm water.

— For Sensitive Skin:
A.Oatmeal And Olive Oil Mask: Mix 1 cup oatmeal, 1 Tbsp. olive oil, sea salt, and 1/2 cup skim milk to make a paste and apply on face. Rinse after 15 minutes. Before you try this mask, put a towel in really hot water, and then take that towel and put it on your face for 2 minutes. It will open up your pores, which allows the dirt that is deep inside them get cleaned out.
B.Rose Oil And Avocado Oil Mask: 1 Tbsp. Rose Clay, 1-2 tsp. avocado oil, 1 drop rose oil, 1 drop roman chamomile oil and water to make a paste.

— For Mature Skin:
A.Olive And Lime Mask: 2 tsp. olive oil, half tsp. lime juice. Wisk until it turns cloudy. Leave on all night or great for a 30 minute mask. you’ll be amazed at how much dirt it lifts.
B.Rose Clay Mask: Mix 1 Tbsp. rose clay, 1 Tbsp. finely ground oatmeal, 1 tsp. honey, 1 tsp. avocado or almond oil, 1 drop frankincense oil, 1 drop neroli or lavender oil, 1 drop rose oil and water to make a paste. Apply on the face and rinse when dry with warm water.
